Device simulation

Thumbnail of the first page of the adventure game.Device simulations teach how to operate a piece of equipment. In device simulations, learners simulate pressing buttons by clicking on their images. They may simulate turning a knob by dragging its edge left or right.

This example lets learners practice how to select a ring tone on a mobile phone.

Here is another device simulation. It was built using just one slide and relies on the trigger effect that can be added to slide objects. It helps users to learn what the various system switch settings control.

Viewing requirements: You need PowerPoint 2002 or 2003 installed. Otherwise you see a dialog box asking if you want to install the PowerPoint ActiveX plugin.

About the examples

The phone sim was built with Adobe Captivate (for the phone sim.) and PowerPoint, then converted to Flash with Articulate Presenter. The system board switch example was built and saved for Web delivery using PowerPoint.
