Vision and the church
Vision
and the Church is
an example of asynchronous e-learning. It employs a mixture of presentation,
readings, activities, music, and numerous self-practice activities.
Note: To view this example, you will need to register and receive
a password via return e-mail.
Context
Vision and the Church (VnC, for short) was developed to provide performance
support for congregational teams charged with discovering and articulating
the congregation's vision. At the end of the process, teams have an articulated
vision to present to their congregation.
Constraints
Because congregational teams may not
have high-speed access to the Internet, VnC was designed
to bandwidth savvy. All music and other rich media is downloaded only by
request.
Features
VnC has some features we would like to point out:
- Meditation activities
and music help learners disengage from worldly concerns.
- Each lesson or pathway includes a "fun"
activity to provide emotional relief because the
subject-matter is intense.
- Since many of the learners are new to e-learning, the interface is simple
with just Previous and Next buttons.
- Learners who wish to review material can access a detailed table of contents.
- Team decisions are recorded in
a journal and can be viewed at any time.
- If teams need help coming up with solutions, they can query the journal
to see how other teams solved various problems.
