Don't just tell them! Teach them!
Help informs, but sometimes people need more than information. Increasingly
Help users expect systems to teach as well as inform. As they experience both
online documentation and online training, they no longer distinguish between
the two and expect Help to provide both. Let's see how Help can incorporate
techniques of e-learning to provide both reference information and related training.
This presentation will show you how to design engaging and informative hands-on
activities, learning games, discussion forums—and how to integrate them into
Help. It shows how to transform your Help topics into reusable knowledge
objects that are versatile and fun to use. We will answer questions such as:
- How are Help and e-learning different?
- When should I teach and when should I tell?
- How do I create just-in-time training?
- What if I'm not an instructional designer?
- How do I make learning fun?
- How do I promote collaborative learning?
- How can I turn my Help topics into complete knowledge objects?
